Ink Tank

Ink Tank was my course project with CareerFoundry.com. It was designed to help showcase my skills as a UX designer. The app helped me practice the design process and gain a better understanding of the different aspects of UX design.

Problem Statement

“When people are getting a tattoo for the first time it can be an intimidating process especially if you don’t know exactly what you want or you’re not artistically inclined.”

The Goal of this app is to provide an easy way for people to design and visualize tattoos before ultimately getting one.

User Personas

The user personas were created from a mix of user interviews and survey questions. I than derived the target audiences followed by user flows for the respective users. This ensured I had a design that would meet the goals for many different users.

Ink Tank was designed first as tattoo design software. It than evolved into a one stop shop for tattoo needs early in the design. It evolved through natural progression of features that were added for a better user experience.

App Evolution

The Login screen was combined with the account creation screen to better streamline the on-boarding process and provide a better user flow. The “Login” button was changed to “Create” based on suggestions from user testing.

“Design A Tattoo” menu was a cluttered and confusing at first. The final design fixed the spacing issues as well as providing the user with numbers help navigate in order. This made the menu less intimidating for users and gave them more direction.
